The Portfolio System is a tool which guides student learning, to assure that:

• Each individual patient encounter results in effective learning
• Course objectives are met and can be easily tracked by students
• Students self-assure that they are learning the components they need
• There is rapid and consistent feedback from preceptors
• There is a place to record reflections and insights, to be recalled later as career options are being considered
• Students can add patients to a personal Panel. Through the EMR system, students can track when their own patients have upcoming scheduled appointments or procedures. The system will also notify students via text-page of appointments scheduled last-minute and of admissions via the Emergency Department.
